This week in ISM I went on a very interesting mentor visit in which I was able to observe a variety of different events that take place on a normal basis within the JCPenney Headquarters. I was able to gain access into the studios and witness a photo shoot session for the upcoming prom section in the next catalog, learn about the process behind shooting still shots of different pieces to be included in print advertisements, and discuss the artistic elements for my final product with Lensey, the art director. I chose to complete a primary research assessment this week because during my visit I learned an incredible amount. I was especially interested in the work Lensey creates, and plan to learn a little bit more about her typical responsibilities on my next visit. I was also made aware that the next steps for my product include discovering more about how I want to structure my presentation within InDesign and exactly what I desire the overall look to be. This ranges from a variety of components to consider such as what fonts compliment each other nicely, what color palette best fits my theme, different swipes I can utilize, and the lay out I prefer for each slide. Ultimately, I want a final product that is clean cut and professional, yet still visually appealing.
