This week in ISM I kept myself busy setting up a multitude of informational interviews. It did get a bit stressful as it was difficult to offer availability to one professional before another got back to me to let me know which date worked best for them. However, I ended the week with five interviews successfully scheduled and I could not be happier. In addition to this, I also conducted my very first informational interview with Joe Trahan in the Dallas Cowboys Headquarters located in The Star. Initially, it was quite nerve-wracking. However, when I began to start up a conversation with him I felt much more relaxed. As the corporate communications director and media specialist of the team, he informed me that the biggest responsibility for himself and his colleagues were to be the “librarians of the football team.” Although I do not think his particular position is the exact career path I want to go down, one specific comment he made did stick with me. He said that though his career may not allow him to be rich in money, he is rich in experience and knowledge. He loves where he works and that is evident in the information and stories he recalled, which is something I definitely desire to my future.
